Circa 1905 table runner in linen from the Arts & Crafts period. Beautiful oatmeal linen shows embroidery with birds, butterflies, and florals. Also has stenciling to highlight the piece. Very nice piece History: During the Arts & Crafts period of 1890 - 1910, hand crafting became a constant theme. Women, in particular, used embroidery and stenciling as a way not only to express themselves artistically, but also to be part of the hand crafted revolution. Needlework throughout this period shows very organic Arts & Crafts motifs. Hallmarks: N/A Size: 15 3/4" x 21 3/4" Condition: Very good condition, no stains or holes, except for one small white spot which almost looks like toothpaste on the linen, it's ON the linen not soaked in like a stain. Crocheted edging has come unravelled in several places, but an easy fix. Price: $95 + shipping |
